The Cask Trials
The Cask Trials
Distilled in 1968 and matured for 53 years in a single sherry butt, this remarkable Sherry Cask Single Grain Whisky showcases the potential of grain to achieve great complexity and depth of character when given time and care.
"A deep ruby tint, rich top notes of dried fruits macerated in Armagnac, with pencil shavings at base. A compelling balance of sweet and dry."
Charlie McLean
The Finer Details
This is an incredibly rare Sherry Cask Single Grain Whisky crafted from an unlikely marriage of European oak and Girvan grain. With a deep and intense character drawn from 53 years in best quality European oak this is today almost unrecognisable as grain whisky but with a delicious underlying richness that reveals its roots.
- Matured for over half a century in a single Sherry Cask.
- Offered at a natural cask strength.
- Free from added colour.
- Non-chill filtered.
- Packaged in a hand-engraved, individually numbered decanter with ash display box featuring gold leaf inlay.
Nose
Rich, decadent and intense with a resinous quality and dried fruits on the nose.
Palate
Roasted coffee and Muscovado toffee notes follow on the palate. An exceptional, highly unusual release with a character reminiscent of greatly aged malt whisky.
